Chaucer Pigeon

Chaucer, an elderly pigeon, was rescued in Austin on March 4, 2001, with a broken wing. He was very weak when I found him and probably hadn't eaten well for a while. His broken wing prevented him from being able to fly to food sources as much as he needed. He rehabbed with me and joined my aviary on March 15 when he had gotten stronger. He's a beautiful glitter patterned pigeon with a tiny beak and a small body.

Pictured left: Chaucer recovers from a broken wing. I confined him in a cage for ten days until he had regained his strength and his wing had healed. He put on some weight and got stronger and then joined our aviary. He became surprisingly tame for a feral pigeon and he opted for the Easy Life, asking to join the aviary. He quickly adjusted, finding his favorite spots and enjoying daily treats.
