Petra Pigeon

Petra (left) and her husband, Andante

Petra was rescued in Austin and rehabilitated in Dallas. When I found Petra, she was a baby with a 2-inch gash in her crop. She couldn't eat or drink and was very weak.

I brought her up to Rogers Wildlife, and Kathy Rogers sewed Petra up. Kathy tube fed her very small amounts at a time. Each time the stitches came loose, Kathy had to sew her up again.

It did not seem likely that Petra would live, but she hung on. After a few months, Petra had healed and grown up into a healthy beautiful young lady with a delightful personality.

Petra joined our aviary on February 3, 2001. She was soon courted by the handsome Andante, who won her heart.
